Best Czech boxer in the heaviest weight category has been scaring rivals since the age of seventeen. It was at that time that the twenty-four year old “Hulk” started boxing. “And it’s been my living for three years now,” says Ondřej Pála, who became the holder of the PABA interim champion belt in December. Thanks to this he got into the game for WBA world champion title. “The Russian Valujev currently holds the title. And I want that belt very much,” smiles Pála. He is not afraid of challenging the 213-centimeter tall giant. “He’s not as good as he seems. He’s just very big and strong, but in boxing it’s other traits that matter. Speed, temper. And I’ve got those. I think defeating him is realistic,” he claims. Pála always believes in himself. “But that’s how it should be; I can’t go into the ring with doubts as to whether I’ve got it or not. I just always know I’ll win!”
In addition to boxing, this smiling fighter has also tried judo, Thai-box and jiu-jitsu. He was also a competitive swimmer until the age of seventeen.
Through the eyes of trainer Jurij Krivoručko:
“Ondra has grown into a top boxer, who can allow himself to think of championship belts of higher value. Even though he’s still young... And in my opinion he’s got what it takes. He has a great future in store.”
